As a practising artist and teacher I learned how to listen to what others were concerned about, how to ask what they thought of issues and how to introduce new ways of approaching topics. Many of these skills can be applied to buying and selling real estate.
As a realtor I've noticed drastic changes in the industry within the past 10 years. Most people now use the internet as a great source of gathering and using information. As applied to real estate, this is profound. Unlike before, when the realtor held all property and trading information, now, the client also has a lot of access. I like the dynamics better today because it means that my client and I can work in a more efficient manner. I am able to send my client maps detailling parks, schools, shopping, churches in any given neighourhood. I can send contact information to any area of interest and through a process of discovery and elimination and diligence, we can work towards focussing on a particular neighbourhood in a specific price range to find the perfect home!
